Importance of the project

Basic education is very important for the future development of Myanmar especially ethnic minority area. At this moment in Myanmar, as stated above, less than 60% of children attend school in the heartland of Myanmar and less than 20% in the mountain regions where most ethnic nationals live. Owning to the high dropout rate, only 2% of young people who enrolled at primary school finish secondary education. This project will increase the number of children and young people in school and reduce the school dropout rate in Kayah State. Young people are future leaders of the society and the country they belong to. No doubt that they must be given proper nurture and education to become good leaders. LTLS believes that this project will help at least an initial number of 200 children out of thousands of children and young people to join school. Furthermore, the project will also encourage community involvement in education.
