Educational and Young People in Kayah State

Kayah State is the most political restricted area and the least socially developed people are dwelling in. Poverty is the major economic barrier of access to education in State. The majority of the people is farmers and earns their living by farming. Many poor families are on subsistence level, eking out a living as poor farmers. The drop- out rate is high. Children from poverty-stricken families have been dropping out of schools due to their family financial difficulty to support their education. Thus, the numbers of uneducated adults are increasing more and more in this area. One of the political factors that contribute to low education in Kayah State is the military regime's neglect of education and fighting between the government troops and Kayah revolution group cause a lot of trouble in those living in remote rural area. Four cut strategies applied by the military of Myanmar created many social problems for them as well. Many of them become internally displaced person (IDPs) who left or fled their home and either moved to or tried to escape into Thailand. The government has done very little to promote in Kayah State. This is the end of education for many poor school-aged children. It is a need to enlist the rural development while less and less people are lack of privilege to study in high school level.
